Jérémie Zimmermann, 39, self-defined hacker, is a long-time promoter and defender of Free/Libre software. He is the co-founder of Hacking with Care, a collective composed of hackers-activists, caregivers, artists, sociologist, growing quite literally by contact and affinity. Together we imagine, circulate, put in common resources and tools for care in accordance with hackers ethics and peer-to-peer philosophy.

Jeremie is also the co-founder and was spokesperson for 7 years of La Quadrature du Net, an advocacy group that promotes the rights and freedoms of citizens on the Internet. La Quadrature builds tools for citizens to understand the political and legislative process and participate into it. La Quadrature du Net engages in public-policy debates concerning, for instance, freedom of expression, copyright, mass surveillance, regulation of telecommunications and online privacy.

Jérémie Zimmermann was awarded the 2012 Pioneer Award by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF), for "having been instrumental in the fight against the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA), a far-reaching international treaty that would curtail many Internet freedoms in favour of extremist intellectual property protectionism.".
