Lecture: Freedom of Information - The Pink Elephant on stage with Open Data

Sweden has the oldest principle of access to public information, ranging all the way back to 1766. However with digitalization, the average citizen's amount of access to public information has not increased as much one could have expected. In a sense, the young child Open Data has become the more interesting than its grandparent, the public access to Freedom of Information. Why is this? In this interactive lecture/workshop you are invited to learn more, give input and advice on how to fix the situation and make Freedom of Information share the center stage with Open Data!

We will also explore the project FrågaStaten.se (Ask The State) which is a platform soon to be launched. The software running it lets citizens anonymously crowdsource public documents through the Freedom of Information (Offentlighetsprincipen) which correspondence and results are publicly displayed at the platform.

We are currently in the phase of setting up the system. The platform will hopefully be up and running for the public by the time FSCONS is happening. More here: http://fragastaten.se/
